Customized Achromatic Lens
Our achromatic lenses feature minimized spherical aberration and coma at infinite conjugates, yielding minimal focus spot size. Unlike singlet lens, achromatic lenses have constant focal length independent of aperature and operating wavelength and have superior off-axis performance. Ask: We are using an 16mm diameter focal length 26mm lens located 300mm from a 1.9mm sensor. I have a 1 mm aperture between the back focal length and sensor. With the aperture there is too much vignetting, but without it not enough contrast. How could we solve our setup ?
Answer: In this particular case, your problem is not vignetting. It is in fact one of resolution. If you has the necessary resolution, then you would not need to insert an aperture to improve contrast. The reason you gain contrast by inserting the aperture is because you are vignetting. Vignetting often improves contrast in lower-end imaging systems by eliminating the hardest to control rays. The main thing you could do to improve your setup is to use a better lens. An achromatic lens would really improve the resolution in your setup. Another option you could try is to reduce your field of view.Customized Achromatic Lens
